I most recently worked on the Buying & Planning team at Macy's Inc:

  • I managed a $150 million dollar business searching for new products for 600+ stores & for the e-commerce website.
  • I launched new vendor lines in stores & online 
  • I listened to vendor presentations and saw what worked, what didn’t, and why
  • I managed national buying budgets to determine how much we would buy for our retail stores and when
  • I analyzed sales performance to determine what products would be re-ordered, and what would products would be cut

I left Macy's a few years before Rita to run our children's product business. While doing so:

  • I broke into retailers my sales reps couldn’t get me into and I did most of it via cold email 
  • I negotiated lower minimums and better prices from my factories, making it possible for me to make money on small orders
  • I built my own sales tools that were better than what my competitors were using
  • I developed pricing strategies that ensured I was profitable even when the buyer negotiated me down
